So take it out on ODWC and the OK state legislators who make the rules, ask for change. In this case, is retrieverman hunting in your potential spot and killing the deer you wanted? Lol

I do that regularly, out staters can stay at home and hunt , boat do whatever you want there. I would 100% be OK if Oklahoma had the same hunting regulations Kansas had 30 years ago. They prohibited out state hunters for the longest time .

I've had people call and approach me about leasing family land . I think I told the last Texan it would cost 100,000 for a lease. I am sure they went elsewhere and found one but I'd also be ok if lease hunting was prohibited entirely.

My guess is he don't hunt or not very good at it and just jealousy from behind the keyboard. I, for one, love hunting in CO. They raised the non res $$ where a cow elk is $600 so I don't go every year but I NEVER go on a CO forum and bash the members as they don't write the regs. Childish imo.
This is the dumbest thing ever posted , I've hunted all my life and am a native born resident of the state . '

It really doesn't matter if I've hunted out of state or not, but I have done so in the past .

It doesn't mean I want people coming else where doing the same here .

I might be missing something with your statement here.

I’ve got a lifetime combo license and it doesn’t give me special privileges. All it does is make it to where I don’t have to buy my deer tags, trapping license and maybe another item or two I can’t think of right now.

I still have to buy a federal duck stamp, so it doesn’t help with that.

Please explain how having a lifetime license gives special privileges.

Again, I maybe be missing something here or not understanding what you’re saying.

Trapping license are now part of the standard license .. I think they made that change a couple of years back

I beg to differ - you one upped me by a long shot with this one...."Please go pay less in your home sate ."

I'm a native born OK resident also but to blanket say that this is OUR land and NOBODY else can own or enjoy it is stupid. Not dumb. STUPID!

I assume you'd also like to just shut off I-35 and I-40 at both borders so that only Okies are allowed to drive in/out? No reason to go into the economics of your asinine statement and how much non-residents help our great state's outdoor recreation as I'm sure it would fly way over your head.

That said, I do follow your desire to not have anyone encroach on your property or your lake honey holes but you gotta realize doing so would have a much more negative impact than the way things are now. Sure, outfitters are leasing up land and guides are filling the lakes but that gripe goes to the state NOT against Retrieverman who's playing by the rules.

Where we need to be according to ....yo

I feel like I'm set up to kill high scoring bucks because of the properties I have and the lack of pressure around me, and what pressure I do have around me, he's tying to accomplish the same thing I am. That said, even with age, "genetics", and groceries(soybeans, corn, wheat, milo, cotton) on my places, very few bucks will score 160" even given the proper chance. I've hunted those places for almost 30y now too. I don't think "booner" genetics are as common as folks think. I think the limiting factors in seeing, let alone shooting, booner bucks are genetics, age, nutrition, in that order. Just having the genetics and age will produce booners, as proven in SE Oklahoma season after season. Those bucks browse on almost nothing "nutritional" imo. They eat enough browse to survive, nothing more.
Correct! I have 1750 acres and don't allow dinks to be shot. If its not mature, it walks. Its impressive to pull up and see bucks that are fat, healthy, and my dinks are something most guys wouldn't have to think twice about shooting. We work for it to be this way and knowing that the neighbor is in cooperation and has the same mind set is 80% of the battle. There have been years I didn't shoot a buck, only does, because I didn't think they were mature enough to be harvested. This payed off in dividends the years after. I shot 2 over 160" this year and there are 3 more on that same piece of property in that class. One was taken by a poacher (who got caught thank you to the ODWC and the head and cape will be returned to us) but the other two will most likely get a hall pass this year and Ill just take a few does. I love the hunt, love the meat, but I've learned there is no reason for me to shoot an immature deer. Again, having said that, have I done it? Absolutely, many times, but I was educated on how much more fun it is when you have a property full of great deer vs a farm full of average deer.

I have a really good understanding of advanced economics so you presume too much , its not about money for me , its protecting and preserving what we have for the people here. Even though I am a capitalist I am not an unrestricted sell everything we have to make a buck capitalist . Its not progressive idea either its a conservative one at its core to preserve and maintain .
