Nothing like a good Football game in Late Fall with a Big Band playing fight songs and Marching Half time.

Sad most of the small High Schools have lost Band, in the 70's every football game you went to had Bands playing and battling along with field play. I miss it.

There's a lot of small schools that have dropped football and have fall baseball instead, or neither due to numbers.

Football is a very expensive program for a high school,,,
Way back in time when dinosaurs walked the earth,,,
Which was actually 1964 (my freshman year),,,
We moved to Maryland.

Being from Oklahoma I was amazed to find out,,,
None of the local high schools had football,,,
They all had soccer as it was way cheaper.

I've heard from football program supporters,,,
That it's the way for some "disadvantaged" kids to get into college.

Why not teach them to read instead.

When I enrolled at OSU back in 98,,,
I had a student worker job as an assistant to a professor,,,
Her job was to send us out to the dorms and wake up the athletes and escort them to class.

Shameful waste of resources,,,
One of the reasons I lost faith in "higher education".

I stayed at OSU through a Master's Degree though,,,
The "paper chase" did get me a good paying job,,,
Even though I learned very little new info.

I quickly found out that I wasn't getting educated,,,
I was simply being indoctrinated.

My 13 year old grandson plays bass drum in the high school band. To say their marching and playing is a clusterf*ck is quite the understatement.
