Alright folks, here the scoop on onions.
they are a biennial. they produce seed heads the second year. Now you ask why they are producing seed heads the first year.
Well they think it is the second year because of the temperature swings Oklahoma is famous for. going from cool temperatures to warm and back to cool will cause onions to bolt.
Nothing you do after the send up the seed heads will make it grow a bigger bulb. Bending the tops over will NOT make it grow a bigger bulb. Actually you have just stopped the growth of the bulb.

You need to pull any onions that have sent seed heads up and use them. Then wait for the rest of the onion tops to fall over on there own. then dig them up and let them cure in a cool airy location.

the more leaves they have, the bigger the bulb will be. scrawny tops produce small bulbs.
