I crossed the Golden Gate Bridge on my back from the Far East. The driver pointed out the prison which is now a tourist attraction.
Never mentioned the pier.

The Berkeley pier went out almost 3 miles to connect traffic

I have a few pictures of Alcatraz myself. Wife and I were out there a few years ago on business and toured the island and inside the prison.
