Back in '95, I attended some IT-related training led by an instructor knew some folks on the planning committee for the Olympic Festival in '89. He said they'd originally been interested in having Buffett perform at the opening ceremonies, but he didn't make a great impression on the members who went to talk to him (IIRC, he was two hours late because he'd been up all night after a concert, and might not have been completely sober).
I thought that was a crying shame--I was working on campus during the opening ceremonies, so I could've gone out on the patio in front of DAHT and listened to Margaritaville live.
Instead, I had to settle for going out there and feeling the concussion of the fireworks...which were apparently fused wrong, and were going off too low, so it turned out to be quite the experience. Well, that, and the rain of cardboard, partially burned propellants/explosives, and other fireworks debris...

The COPA group is having their 7th annual Pub Crawl tomorrow here in OKC. This will be our 4th in a row to attend. What a great time. We charter two buses, fill em with people and go bar hopping for the day.

Been to several at Smirnoff ice amphitheater in Dallas. One of the better shows I've seen. Definately al lot of self medication going on... Tailgate parties and vehicle decorations were epic.
