There is something profoundly wrong with our state legislature to ignore the will of the people so much so that they won't even allow medical marijuana to be debated or granted an interim study, much less being brought up for a vote, when such an overwhelming majority of their constituents clearly support this. If that's not the definition of broken, dysfunctional, government; what is?

Where do you get your information about an overwhelming majority?

It always amazes me how many people claim that they do not use drugs in these threads. :D :D

Preliminary research indicates the active ingredients within marijuana slows the spread of cancer, and the theory goes that a higher concentration of said ingredients may stop the spread, contain, and possibly reverse the cancer. It is done by injection therapy, and does not provide the lucid/high feelings. The concentrations can't be synthesized chemically, but must be taken directly from the plant. But due to state/federal laws, it's very hard to be approved for the research, and next to impossible to be granted the money... The biggest lobby against approval, of the research based in legal definitions of the substance, is the major players in bio-nuclear and chemotherapy trades.
