I paid off a bunch of credit card when I retired and had a little trouble doing it cause if the bal. was 100.00 I mailed a check for a 100.00, The next statement would be for 1.00 and change or whatever because of interest acrued in the time it took for my payment to get to them, I learned to send them about a buck or so over that amount, now I have a credit on most of my old accounts and they have spent a lot of money sending me statements to that effect

LOL ... that ain't right ... funny as all gitout but it ain't right! :clap3:

They do it to themselves don't they??

Several years ago, I got a post office box when I worked downtown. Sent off letters to all my creditors changing my address to reflect that. My mortgage company had a meltdown. Needed an affidavit from me stating I did not move to my new address. I called ... It just went from bad to worse. Well they needed PROOF I did not live at my new address ... WTF??

I took pictures of the inside of my POBox (a small one) and sent it to them with a letter stating that they had caught me, I WAS thinking about moving into my PO Box because the payments were so much cheaper than those on my house but that once I had actually viewed the property I thought it might be a little cramped in there for both me and the husband so I had decided to stay at the home the mortgage was on. Sent it by certified mail, return receipt requested. They didn't bother me about it any more ...

Lets think about this....send them a check for .24 cents using a stamp that costs .44 cents and then the cost of the envelope and if they dont take personal checks you have the cost of the money order...Awesome of them.

1st year of med school and sitting at 42k. I will have every beat when i finish school.

I owed about $196,000 between Federal and private loans when I came out of law school. Everytime I hit a a decent case, I'd pay it down. By the time I got part of my fees on my Fen Phen cases, I had it down to about $130,000. I bought a cashiers check and FEDEXed the whole $130,000 to them. When my online account should them all paid, I let out a rebel yell that scared my staff. Frigging indentured servitude was over.

I was lucky enough to have mine paid off within 7 years of graduating, but most folks can't do that. I definitely believe that if the government is good enough to loan you the money to invest in yourself, you should be good enough to pay it back, but it should not be at 8-10%.

In fact, if we can give billions to the Israelis, Saudis, and various other countries in the world, why can't we provide support to our own citizens to improve their educations?

Well its not really a problem, more of an annoyance.

After my most recent payment, I now owe Ms. Sallie a grand total of $0.23 in student loans. Yes yes, go me. I have tried to pay that online but when I do I get an error saying that my payment must be at least $1.00 When I tried to make a payment of $1.00, it gave an error saying I could not overpay my outstanding principal. Go figure. I will have to wait until Monday to call them.

Does anyone here know if Sallie Mae will do a small balance write-off? that's what I was going to ask for but didn't want to waste my time on whatever government ******* I happened to get on the phone. I suppose I could mail in a check for twenty-three cents but that seems kind of wasteful for both me and them. I am sure it will cost a helluva lot more to process the payment than the payment actually is.

Anyone got any idea on this?
Mail them a check for $1.00. the overpayment will confuse them and probably cause a complete failure of the system. They wont know what to do and will probably spend thousands of man hours trying to figure out how to give you a credit for .77 cents.
