Proposed change to Classified Rules

We have received a lot of PMs from members requestiong we raise the minimum post count to post in the classifieds from 20 to 100 (some even suggested 200-500). I think some sort of modification is in order. However, it would not impact folks who have registered before the effective date of the rule.

What say you guys and gals?

Again, this will NOT impact current users with less than 100 posts.

I would be in favor of the raising the min post count. I look at how long a member has been a member as well.

I don't post unless I feel I have something worthwhile to add to the discussion. I could care less about my post count.

Post count is a worthless measure due to spamming. Maybe increase the number of days you had to have been a member?

I understand the logic for wanting some minimum post count or membership time to limit the fly-by-night joiners who just want to sell items and run. I also remember that it took a fair amount of effort to get to 20 non-"me too" posts.

I would have proposed 50 not 100 - more than double the current requirement but not so draconian as to discourage newbies who may legitimately want to trade/sell.

Same here, been a member for 6 years and I only have 300 posts.

I think membership time should be considered also.

I think there should be a board of advisers who would have to approve users who wish to post in the classifieds before the minimum post count is reached.
