I think its probably just as important that a person continues to be a part of the community. Probably no easy way to track that. I also think the classified should be invisible if you're not eligible.

I'm thinking 6 months and 500 posts. Too many DBs trying to gouge good standing community members.
Most of the people im seeing posting **** for stupid money have been here awhile... LOL I guess I understand but still....maybe we're all just sour.the thing that pisses me off is the ammo. I'd like to go shoot but all these turds are just buying to resell it when i'd just like to shoot it

I think it's fine the way it is. But I remember when and why I came here and if it weren't for the classifieds I wouldn't be here - I came to shops guns. My first couple of months after joining the classifieds was the ONLY thing I kept up with, but the place eventually grew on me.

Gouging is easily fixed by changing the rules to allow "report post" on offending classified posts. When a mod gets a chance, they review the OP, lock the thread, and post a poll to allow the community to vote on whether or not to give a timeout to the offending member.

Too many false-reports and you earn a timeout for yourself.

Problem solved. No new tools or software required.

I think 50 posts or 60 days which ever comes first.

I like the idea of hiding the classifieds for non members or people not logged in.

I would be alright with paying a yearly due, 20 to 30 bucks, for some premium options. Plus I figure the money would help out the website.

Also a big Thanks to the Mods, I am sure they have their hands full and are doing an excellent job.

I'm not sure there is a good solution. There are good people who don't post that often since they have nothing to contribute to a discussion or have no interest. Some people post in every thread they can to get their post count up and still complain when they have 400 posts in 1 week and can't post in the classifieds. Having the classifieds hidden could work if they automatically appeared after the waiting period was over.
