Proposed change to Classified Rules

As a new member I think the wait and post count should be raised. I also agree with Dustin that it shouldn't be accessible/viewable to those who do not meet the requirements.

The classifieds is what brought me to this site. If you make them invisible, you may be able to keep low life, scumbags like me out of here.

I like a lengthened time requirement.

I also want to see stronger enforcement against those who don't contribute any posts except to the Classifieds or Member Feedback. It's supposed to be a privilege for contributing members, or so I thought. If 80% of your posts are classifieds related, you aren't a contributing member. I see guys with 99% classifieds related posts.

I also like the classifieds being hidden unless you are logged in and hidden from those who haven't been granted Classifieds access.

Back when the board was smaller a guy would get a time out for that.
I understand why it doesn't happen anymore though too.

I wont name any names but there was a guy (non-sponsor) who was selling brand new firearms nearly every other day up to about two months back. I think in one months time I counted ads for at least 20 brand new un-fired firearms. I havent seen much of his ads lately (I havent been in the classifieds much either) so maybe the mods stopped his racket.

I have less than 100 posts and voted that the minimum requirement should be raised. After witnessing the madness that the Classified section has descended into during the past month I am in favor of a change. It seemed as though the majority of the chaos was created by new members.

If this was my house, the classifieds would be invisible to those not logged in or qualified on the current system before any other changes were considered.

With all of the 'supposed' price gouging going on, by the time things calm down where you can afford to buy something then most newbs will have their 50-100 posts in anyways.

I think membership time is more critical than post count. Post count is relatively easy to inflate. My thoughts:

1. Base accesses to classified on being an active member for at least the preceding 90 days, defined as logging on to the site at least once per week.
2. For those who do not meet the criteria to access the classified, the entire section of the classified is not visible to them.
3. Disable PM privileges for not active members to prevent backdoor dealing as well.

I would vote for a post count of 50 and at least three months on the forum, or a year on the forum with any number of posts.
