Question for regular classified sellers

If you post something and a prospective buyer pm's you with a reasonable offer but not quite enough and you respond with a counter offer, how long do you wait for a response? Let's say the offer you received is not lowball or something, but an actual good faith offer just not quite what you want to settle for yet.

How long if you have another inquiry?

Just curiousity.

Maybe we need some informal rules of etiquette. Made by regular buyers and sellers (I wouldn't qualify).

I agree. No deal until someone says I will take it. All of us should be adult enough to know this and accept that if we are negotiating and someone steps up, then we lose.

This. A lot of people just won't reply one way or another for whateve reason.

If the member has logged in at least once since I made the counter-offer and hasn't responded....they lose their dibs on the deal (you can see when a member last logged in by going to their profile, usually). That's how I play it usually...unless it's someone I regularly deal with, then they get a little slack.

Pretty much what everyone else said. "I'll take it" beats out haggling, every time.
