I haven't figured out how I'm going to do the hand rail yet. I just finished up the big part last night near 10:00pm.

Looks like you should be able to just bolt a hand rail to the side of the outside stringer (I wouldn't use screws as they could tear out). Just have to consider the clearance between the top end of rail and the ceiling.
Is there any kind or locking mechanism to lock it in the down position so the outside stinger can't fold under while using the stairs? Would be practically required if you attach the railing to it.
No, it's a reducing pipe flange that I welded a section of 10" pipe to and a platform on top.All very cool.
Is that stand some sort of axle housing?
