Hey y'all, just popping in from the mile high gungrabber state. All but a couple of democrats voted along party lines up here for the new gun control laws. All I can do is warn you guys, the DNC, or Obama/Biden has got some kind of leverage on the state level parties, and not just in Colorado, but in several states, they are party voting for this insanity. We may be moving back if things don't go well in 2014.

You are exactly right! Bloomberg has increased his staff and dispatched more people to selected states. I think they realize they're not going to get what they want through congress so they're opening a second front in selected states. Bloomberg was in Illinois and helped defeat a pro-2nd amendment candidate, though I believe it's highly unlikely she would have been elected.

They believe this is "their time" after Sandy Hook, and they are willing and prepared to go all out.

Bloomberg's footprints are also all over Colorado. The Son of a ***** should be in prison for trafficking in illegal firearms after he sent his New York goons to Arizona to try and purchase illegal weapons.

I don't really give a **** about California or New York or New Jersey --- but Colorado, that's different -- this is the west. Those are our western brothers up there, and I think they need our help. I've worked up in Durango since 1994 and the "life-blood" of that state is tourism and hunting. I don't drink much beer, but no more Coors for me. I'm boycotting all I can of Colorado and letting them know it --- yet I'm sending some money to help get this jerk out of office in the Durango district.

That was out of state money, plus "crazy joe" who came in to increase pressure, that helped pass these bills. So it's only right that a little out of state money go back in to Colorado to help recall some of the reps. Just like they tried to do to Walker in Wisconsin. Give it right back to them. A successful recall would send a strong message.

Rhonda Fields, the woman who sponsored the magazine ban in the house, has a rap sheet a mile long: larceny, hot checks, and shoplifting and so on. How can you serve as an elected public official with that kind of record? She proves through her own personal conduct that a law won't stop someone who is dead set on violating it. Google her and look at her mug shot and rap sheet.

Here's a link: hope it works.

That's Rhonda Fields' mug shot --- the sponsor of the gun magazine ban in the Colorado House.

Even though none of the gun bills introduced in congress or in Colorado would have stopped the tragedy at Sandy Hook, these people will use the death of children as a vehicle to try and advance their unAmerican political agenda. The only thing that would have prevented "Sandy Hook" would have been armed guards or staff. The Israelis have been doing it for years. We need to learn a lesson.

Feinstein has been working on her bill for over a year, and just waiting and "hoping" for the opportune time. McCarthy (New York) introduces her bill every year.

They realize they're not going to be as successful as they want on a national level with the current congressional makeup, so they're attacking on the state-wide level in states they believe are vulnerable.

We must fight back where we can, and I believe we can in Colorado.

Not all Democrats are gun grabbers. Many support gun rights, especially at the State level.

I will stand by my statement.
Look at the listings of the states going for this crap
virtually all are blue states to include colorado.
You think the local dems , if they are in control wouldnt follow the national party line. You would be wrong.
I would further add that no gun rights issues or open carry were approved at the state level until the repubs begin to make a sizable body.
Elected dims just dont like guns.................thats their national platform and if you wanna make it in that party you better be anti gun to some degree.

You are right. Also, pro-gun laws cannot be accomplished without Dem. cooperation and anti-gun laws cannot be accomplished without Rep. cooperation.

True - but you keep side-stepping the obvious trends to which posters are referring. I grant that an individual may be on either side (or both) of an issue regardless of party affiliation but where do the parties stand and where do the bulk of their functionaries and officials stand? Looked at that way the answer is obvious - Democrats = party of gun control and limiting the 2nd Amendment, Republicans = party of less gun control and more expansive understanding of the liberty protected by the 2nd Amendment.

Perhaps not in Oklahoma, but it has happened in other states. The Colorado republicans fought hard, and in the senate, dragged the debate well into the night. They all block voted against it, in committee and on the floor. As long as you have a majority of democrats, and they vote together, it doesn't matter, and that is exactly what is happening. In some states where both houses are ran by democrats, and there is a democrat governor, there is nothing, literally nothing the other party can do to stop legislation. Watch the videos of the "debates" and you'll see the colorado democrats yawning while the republicans pleaded with them to follow what the citizens are asking for. We lost republican control due to the weed debate and civil unions here, and it is haunting us. Too many were complacent, and voted third party, or voted democrat and ignored what was obvious: a gun grab was in our future. Make sure you guys do not fall into the same position we are in. Too many liberals in office down your way will spell doom. They will push thru gun laws even if you all are opposed to it.

This committee vote makes me cautiously optimistic that Oklahoma legislators might be starting to use a little bit more common sense in regards to cannabis, at least:

Oklahoma: Bill To Defelonize Marijuana Possession Offenses Needs Your Support

Doubt they'll let the full house vote on this, though. Babysteps, I guess.
