Good choice, I like RIAs but I wouldn't trust one to carry, I have personally seen them spit parts out at the range.

Hate to recommend this because it's at a much higher price point but you might want to look at an Springfield EMP. It's got everything you'll need on a carry gun and they were designed from the ground up. The 9mm is light and the .40 is very soft shooting for a compact 3" gun.

Also, one thing to consider is that if anything goes wrong, Springfield will take care of you quickly.

I would like to shoot the RIA, never have. They do seem a little heavy, but I would not use one for CCW.

You need to get your hands on (shoot) a couple of different 1911s and see how you like them before you lay down the cash!

I had looked at centerfiresystems.com for some 1911's after a recommendation from another OSA member. I've been researching them for several years now, just never had the funds to buy one. I think I'm going to get one from Bud's Gun Shop online. What's the best ammo to roll through these guys? What are some good target rounds that accurately represent the CCW loads that are normally used?

I have not had issues with any ammo I've shot -- from hand-load cast SWCs to WWB FMJs to Ranger SXT.
