I think your group size measurements may be a little off. Just measure the widest part of the group with a caliper and then subtract one bullet diameter.

Group 2 is probably closer to 1.5" than 0.4" based on the .30 diameter of the bullets and estimation.

ETA: The largest group you show is 0.42". 0.42 + 0.308 = 0.728" The diameter of a dime is about 0.705". This means a dime should cover every group you had except group 2 should be just a hair bigger than the dime.

Also, not knocking your shooting at all. It looks good, but I think your size method is flawed somehow. Nice looking smoke pole too.

I was thinking about it today and I agree, the method that I used calculated the average radius, not the MOA accuracy.

I Wonder If That Stock Will Fit On My Non-accustock/trigger Savage 10fp?

I Am On The Hunt For A New Stock And Not Licking The $300+ Prices For The Aftermarket Ones, Plus I Would Love To Be Able To Get A Magazine Into Mine With Some Extra Rounds.

I am considering a McRee stock and if I do I'll send you a pm.

If you are interested in the program I used, click here for the download.

Thanks for the link, I just downloaded that program and am going to have to play around with it.

Thanks for the helpful info.

No problem. To get your picture sized correctly, I imported your picture into the program then used the measuring tool to see how big the holes were. Next, I opened the picture in Paint and resized the picture to get the holes to measure .308" diameter based off of the measurement in On Target. Finally, open the program back up and reimport your picture and use all the cool features to get group data.

If you have a scanner, I found it easier to just trim the target down some and scan it in. It seems to come in at a 1-to-1 scale and can just be imported directly into the program.

Happy Shooting!!:50cal:

Thanks for the thought and offer on the stock, I called Savage yesterday and they said the accustock is custom fitted to each gun. They said they would not sell me one outright.

I might be interested though, depending on how much work it takes to make it work with mine or if it will even work with mine. Otherwise I may go with a HS Precision stock instead.

I scanned the targets last night and imported them into the software and got similar results:
Group 1- 1.137moa (ouch!)
Group 2- .596
Group 3- .561
Group 4- .661
Group 5- .524

Gonna have to monkey around with that software some more.

My last onine "home" (XDTalk) has degenerated into 90% argumentative *********s over the years and while okshooters has its moments stuff like this is why I spend most of my time here now.

I am also looking at one with the HS Precision stock. It's on the list!

Though if I can find the Savage PNP ( http://www.gunreports.com/news/news...rifle-Phillipines-National-Police_1361-1.html ) I would pick one of those up instead.

You Will Love Those Burris Xtr Rings, That Is What I Used To Mount My Burris Tac30 Scope On My 10fp.

Sorry to say this, But the older models will not fit the AccuStock.
The bolt release has been changed to in front of the trigger guard and
a few other changes.

I have two of them, one in .223 and one in .308 and every thing he said is true.
I added seekins rails to the forearm and use a Atlas bipod, Works great!!.

Nice rifle.

To the two guys thinking about a HS Precision stock, you may want to think about where your busine$$ is going. I have a rifle with a HS P stock; but I won't buy any more from them. I'm not a fan of Lon Horiutchi(sp?).

Sorry if I stepped on your post Sharkbait.

You mean this guy? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lon_Horiuchi I don't know everything that went on at Ruby Ridge but based on what I know he belongs in prison.

Back on topic, I am selling this rifle even though I hate to but I am funding another build.
