It's funny but I always preferred the mid length barrels, 24 to 26 inch. Comes from having so many milsurp starting out I guess.
I was pretty shocked how well a 20” 308 performs for long range though Id still like a 24”. But theres something about compact rifles for various tasks that just make us happy!

It has not been my last one.
And rifle barrels are very soft as you will find out when you rake the hacksaw across one for the first time.
And yet many of us old farts prefer 5 inch barrels like my 1917, one Smith 357 and most of my single action revolvers had.
