...and legalization would snip a lot of that...

I disagree. The low income druggies that can't hold down a job, because of the need to be "high", and other issues, will still continue to be thugs and criminals to sustain the "high". Nothing will change by legalizing pot.
The people that are part time users that have jobs, will still buy and use it, and abuse it, are no different than an alcohol user that abuses it. Their families will suffer the better things in life as any excess money will go to drugs. "I'm gettin along ok" is a common comment I hear from people that are abusing drugs.
I don't want to "get by". I want to prosper. I want to get ahead. I want to think about the future, and prosper in my future.
Druggies, do not have that thought in their minds....is just about where can I get another high.
Its sad that people let themselves get in that condition.....

I see what you are saying, but you are missing the point about a black market industry. Legalization does not completely eliminate the black market, but it would significantly curtail it. Much of the secondary crimes related to the marijuana black market are on the dealer side, not the consumer side.

Do you believe it's okay for people to drink alcohol in a recreational manner? Or are all those who drink alcohol lumped together as alcoholics and therefore must rob, burglerize, and mug to get a high from alcohol?

You may need to re-read my post. I included alcohol abusers.
