That could be the case with Romney in town. I wonder what tomorrow will bring? Maybe they'll convene at 9:30 and actually stay in session more than an hour or two.

Is there a dead line for the Governor to get these bills signed ?

the governor has 5 days, excluding Sundays, to sign bills while the legislature is in session or the become law automatically. When not in session, it is 15 days excluding Saturdays and Sundays.

Well Hopefully they won't pull what they did today tomorrow. What is going to stop them from not voting on it again? If they did it today then they can just as easily delay it again. It sounds like they are doing it on purpose. But maybe we will get lucky and it will get voted yes and go to Fallin. Another question. Once she signs it does it automatically go into effect or does it take a while to do that?

I wouldn't get my hopes up that SB1733 will be heard today. Lets think about this logically for a moment.

We all know that SB1733 is a pretty safe bet on getting out of the Senate and to the governors desk. HB2522 will be heard in conference today. Sykes is on the conference committee and if they can come to an agreement on something with 2522 (which I would guess would be something like a constitutional carry since that's why it ended up in conference) and it is more controversial than SB1733, then it would seem the plan would be to try and pass the more controversial, yet more right restoring, bill first. Then if that fails, go back to the safer, much more likely bill.

There is still 2 weeks left in the session. If 2522 makes it out of conference today, I think it would be heard by both houses Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. If it passes it would go to the gov and if she vetoes it, then SB1733 would be on the way. If 2522 makes it out of conference but fails one chamber, then 1733 would be heard in the senate and then to the gov when it passes.

If SB1733 fails, it won't matter if it failed today or next week. This is going to play out as it will and no matter what we do, the extra stress over it not moving today isn't worth it IMO.

Here's another way to look ay it to. We need to keep up the pressure for a vote on SB 1733 and not worry about HB 2522 it can stay where it's at, with only 12 days left time is running out. I don't believe in waiting until the last minute even if it seems like a sure bet. We know how they are, they will always find a way to delay a bill. I have called every day this week and will be calling again this morning, both my sons will be calling and I have some people at work who will be calling and every day that it is not heard , they will get to hear from me again. There is really no valid reason for the bill to be held up anymore.

Like I said before...They will schedule it for the last day to look like they want to do it but then they will not get to it, just like last year and the year before.

Thats how they keep your vote for next year.

hrdware,
I can see your point and like what you're thinking. It makes good sense.

jwv,
I can see your point too, and it makes good sense.

Why can't they just tell us what's going on?

I don't think constitutional carry has a chance at passing right now.. only have to look at how hard Law enforcement officials and many of the Legislators are pushing back against permited open carry. I'm all for SB1733 being heard & passed now. Then if the legislators want to jack around next year with Constitutional Carry.. they can take all the time they want trying to work it out.. as then it won't affect any of us with permits one bit whether it passes or not.
