I went thru a firearm ownership evolution of sorts and Im not about to give that up any time soon. My first 20 years I spent living exclusively in California and putting up with all of their BS, all the while forced to carry illegal or risk being at risk. 10 years later I moved to Iowa where you had to go to the sheriffs office to obtain a permit just to purchase firearms as well as he was the guy who approved your application for your CC. 10 years after that I moved to Oklahoma and its been like the Disneyland of firearms ownership and CC- I didnt know real freedom until I moved here. I aint ever giving that up.

Two things.

In the wake of the confiscations after Hurricane Katrina nearly every "free" state passed laws specifically prohibiting future confiscations.

Secondly, I don't think future confiscations would go as smoothly. Just like 9/11 we could not even fathom using planes as weapons, likewise before Katrina, we just never could have fathomed that they would come door to door to take your lawful weapons. Also, I would imagine most of these people thought this would be a temporary confiscation or that they would be taken to safety. We now know that it is a very real possibility and I do not think future attempts will be met so lightly.

I concur.

I also believe the law enforcement establishment is being forced to take a position these days and more and more are indicating that they are not planning on enforcing additional federal gun laws.
