“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”

--Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

The Second Amendment functions best when it gives the Security operatives that fear; when the government takes seriously the threat, the possibility, that the people will stand up. It's not until the government loses that fear that the shooting starts.

It is utterly imperative that we communicate clearly now with words, so that we don't have to do it later by other means.

Yes, great post Dave. How many of the victims of tyranny have wished they had resisted earlier, before the State had them in a complete stranglehold? Also, there is a lot more to a resistance movement than most people realize. It isn't all about killing bad guys. Sabotage is a big part of it. There is plenty that non-combatant sympathizers can do as well. Read the Swiss Army manual "Total Resistance," by Major H. Von Dach.

The very makeup of sheeple that allowed New Orleans to be so chaotic after Katrina, also provided for a population that by and large gave up their guns as sheeple.

We've had our share of diasters here in Oklahoma of epic proportions, and we take care of each other as completely opposite as New Orleans did.

Don't forget, we're a completely red state...even in Oklahoma County, Tulsa County, and Cleveland County.

So, to be ...PC...your saying we are better then them, and the Police are right in their actions ...taking weapons?
Because they couldnt stand up for them selves?

To be honest, yes. All people might be created equal, but from there they go different and unequal ways. If you don't have even the tiniest sliver of self-reliance, self-determination or self-preservation skills, are you really a whole person? How much does the rest of the world have to give up to keep your sorry butt in one piece? Of what value are you to the country, society at large or your community?

We protect the weak in a righteous and just manner, but an unfortunate side effect is that we mollycoddle and enable those of weak spirit and moral ineptitude.

I disagree with the cops taking weapons. That was unjustly lumping every citizen into the shallow end of the gene pool and it was wholly unnecessary. I strongly believe that we would not do that here in Oklahoma, laws notwithstanding. Then again, we don't have such a high percentage of oxygen thieves here either. :(
