What do you think?

Two things:

1. They didn't meet the dress code; not even arguably close.

2. Having an inflexible dress code in a weak economy is stupid; costs you too much business. I'd set it aside if I was the owner - but I ain't the owner.

Not complicated. Whether they're pre-op trannys or MOH recipients - what's that got to with anything?

The business has a right to have a dress code. Just because they're veterans doesn't mean they should get special treatment. Comply, or be turned away. Sorry.

While I don't disagree with the last part of your statement, my Dad was a decorated WWII vet and if he were here today he would tell you "BS, they should still be setting examples."

My dad was a Korean War vet. He would say the same thing if he were here. I am my father's daughter. I don't care who you are, you don't go to church on without a tie if you are a guy or hosiery if you are a woman, you say Yessir and Yes, ma'am to your elders regardless of what you really think and you respect those around you and follow the same rules they have to.

Seems to me the world would be a better place if everybody wasn't some kind of special interest group that thinks they should be allowed to ignore what applies to the rest of society ...

Also seems I have one foot up on my soapbox ... thanks Dad ...

i think wwII vets should be allowed to **** on the white house lawn if they want.some people don't appreciate or deserve the sacrafice these guys made

As long as obama's in the white house, everyone should be able to **** on the white house lawn.

Siding with the business here. They have a dress code and it appears that they enforce it uniformly. The WWII vets do not appear to have been mistreated, just told that what they were wearing is unacceptable. In this case, the fact that they are WWII vets seems to be a red herring with respect to this particular issue.

You are absolutely correct. Some folks like to get the warm fuzzies and thump their chests in righteous indignation, yet some of these same people would be the first to scream about the rights of private business if this had been a group of Freedom Riders or Civil Rights activists.

My dad was a WWll vet who spent 5 mos. in a German POW camp. He also died 2 yrs ago in the Ardmore Vet Center. Never did he expect special treatment from anybody. He would say he only did what was needed. Did the restruant have the right to refuse service to these men? Absolutely! Thats one of the freedoms these gentlemen fought for. Should the restruant have refused service? Hell no! Exceptions are made all the time. We'll never be able to comprehend the sacrifices and services these men made. Jim

Some guys got turned away from a restaurant because they weren't properly dressed. Was this the unique restaurant in the Western Hemisphere? Were they on the verge of starvation?
Good God man, I don't care if you forced Adolf Hitler to shine your shoes with the oil on his nose.
Put some clothes on if you wanna come in here.

I agree with BB and JB Books. Rules are rules. Know one held a gun to there head and forced them to eat there. To me it seems a little foolish that these guys went to the media with all this. I appreciate the vets and current soldiers as much as the next guy.
