Seems to me that alot of Vets these days are trying to do anything they can to get people upset. The family in the white house ring any bells? They weren't dressed properly for the place so they throw a fit. Just because they're Vets doesn't mean they can't follow the rules.

I feel a Veteran deserves the upmost respect. All of them.
But we still live in a free country, thanks to them, and a business can do anything it wants and can be as big a horses banana it wants to.
But if it comes to my attention they are doing something like this I'll use my right not to do business with them in the future.
This is why there are tables in the back or on the side of resturants.

Exactly. Though I'm not sure I'd boycott over this, I fully support your right to.

Yes rules are rules. However sometimes people need to know when to be flexible on those rules. If the police were to give out tickets to everyone driving 56 in a 55 zone, people would be up in arms about the strict enforcement. But the bottom line for the resturant, right or wrong, what did they really accomplish by refusing service to a group of vets in their 80s and 90s ?

To the credit of the manager, I think the bottles of scotch was a nice gesture.

Have to side with the business. Dress codes are there because a restaurant is trying to appeal to a certain customer base, and charging for meeting the desires of that base. It is not a sign of disrespect to ask someone to obey the rules. These veterans should understand that and comply, not try to use there service as a way around the rules. As a veteran I know that I have to comply with the rules and do my best to do so. If someone had some frivolous or hurtful rule then we would focus on getting it changed. That does not seem to be the case here.
