By what measure? What have they done since we gave them control of both bodies?

Serious question. Not taking pot shots. I'm desperate for someone to show me that the GOP can be the answer. I've been aligned with the GOP since before I was old enough to vote but they just seem like another group of political gas bags these days.

The have a majority, but "control" would require a veto-proof majority, and the lack of that is a large part of their problem getting anything done.

Many forget that the economy actually started to recover after republicans took the house. People were afraid of Obama's regulations and got less nervous when he had a check on him. Aslo while not a big fan of Bush, the economy did not tank under him until dems took over. The roaring economy of the 90s seems tied to when Clinton had a republican congress.

both parties are screwed up, but on gun rights I know I would trust all three being republican than democrat and the economy I would say its a coin toss but lean republican.

If they threw a temper tantrum like Harry Reid they could just change the rules. I did not support it then and would not now. I am sure next time dems have all three branches they will change or eliminate the filibuster.

Your issues are the same as mine with the GOP.

This is why I'm going with the raccoon theory and voting for trump or cruz. Expecially Trump because he will be the death of the establishment GOP that has put us in the position we are in now.
The GOP is in a war within itself. Those protecting their favored status, against those that want to actually get something done.

The trade deficit and tariffs is huge in bringing back our manufacturing. Nobody but Trump wants to talk about this.
He is the only candidate not taking outside funding, beholden to nobody.

Trump is the establishment candidate at this point.

The secondary reason is that their objection to Trump is not based on anything that Trump stands for… to the extent we can presume to know what that may be… but rather on aesthetics. Trump is in their social circle. They go to the same parties. They play golf together. They belong to the same clubs and are boards of the same philanthropies. Trump is quintessential establishment. What they don’t like is his public (I say public because I’ve never met Trump and certainly never been around him in a private setting) persona. They don’t like his populism. They don’t like his seeking the adoration of the mob rather than ruling the mob. But, push come to shove, he is one of them, they are convinced they can deal with him because he really doesn’t have any guiding principles above self-interest. In other words, they are Trump but with better public manners.

This is why ALL of the establishment politicians are vilifying Trump? He is them?
