Well sort of.
Since the land owner in Amber is only allowing us to rifle hunt his land this year we have been slow to get stands out. THis morning finally worked for me to get the stand hung in the place I wanted it.
Started screwing in footpegs with no problem. when I got to where my feet were about 3-4 feet in the air I placed my foot on a stub left from a broken limb. I rested on this while screwing in another spike. I didn't remove my foot from this stub before lifting my other foot to the next spike. It held until that point.
My brother in law got a good show as I went sliding down the trunk grabbing at the spikes I had just screwed into the tree. I managed to catch myself pretty quick but not before the tree left its mark on me.
a few scrapes and bruises that will hurt more in the morning nothing that won't heal up in a day or two.
But the stand is up ready to hunt on the 20th. Probably going to get a new harness
Off to go find that harness. If not I'll probably go get a new HSS harness and climbing rope.
