Somebody tried to steal my wheels, now I'm experiencing severe steering wheel shake.

Have you checked the wieghts to balance the tire might have got knocked off somehow

Check your balance. Vibration at the speed you indicated are indicative of an out of balance tire.

I know you said you don't think it happened at work, but one of our guys over here in 3234 had his factory center caps stolen off his Jeep the night before last. Not saying they're related, but unfortunately some people out here do steal.

I once had someone back up and bump my tire with their trailer hitch, it was a very light bump and it looked like it did no harm at all, at low speeds I could not tell but when the car got above 40 mph it would shake.
The tire shop could not take out the shake with weights and I had to get a new rim.
