Im looking for a pair of shoes or boots for casual wear, something more stylish than utilitarian. For a pair of boots im looking to spend up to about $150 and for shoes maybe half that. Lastly, I wear a size 15 so that's usually a limiting factor.

I have a boot in mind so I would like to hear your opinion on it as well. My fiance doesn't care for it at all but I love the style of it.

Those boots are bad since the upper part that I do not care for would be covered up. I have a pair similar to those by Sketchers and the are ankle height almost look like a moccasins. I have a pair of Danner Sharptail with a zipper in the rear and a strap with a buckle over the foot.

I have had the same pair of Dr Martens for like 6 years. The soles are still in very good shape, they're still very comfortable, but some of the leather around the ankle is coming apart. This is only my 2nd pair in probably 10-12 years. I will definitely be buying another pair.

I checked the Danners and those are definitely work/utility type boots, I already have a few pairs of boots for that role. This is a Christmas present for myself so I want something a little more on the trendy or fashionable side.

Dr. Martins dont really fit the bill either.

Rockport makes a real nice leather lined chukka that Dillard's in the Sooner Fashion Mall carries. Moccasin toe similar to your picture and nice stitching all the way around. I bought a pair a couple weeks ago to replace a pair I bought in the mid eighties. $119 unless they're on sale for less now. Darkish brown with black soles.

I'm not much of an authority on style, but steel shanks in the soles are a must have for any boots. If you're doing any more than mall walking in them, your back will thank you.
