I am thinking of converting a Swedish M96 to a M41 sniper model. From what I can tell, I will need to drill and tap for an Accumount scope mount, add the mount, rings and scope, and (maybe) do something with the bolt handle.

Does anyone have any advice except "don't do it!"?

Since you’re going to do it look at getting a rifle that doesn’t have numbers matching on all of the parts. There’s lots of great stuff available. You’ll likely have to turn the bolt handle downward as it will interfere with the scope. You’ll need a good gunsmith or machinist to drill and tap for the scope mount as you mentioned. Good luck. It sounds like a fun project.

Probably need to change the safety also. (depending on how far rearward scope is mounted)

Oh yeah - don't do it.
