I seen a program on TV talking about how good this corn is.
I jumped in my car and went there and got 2 paper sacks full $12 each.

It better be as good as they say it is.
I usually never buy corn in bulk but now and then I do and I get mine at Gore Ok.

This corn from Mcloud is not worth it at all.
Chickens will get a lot of it due to soggy rotted ends and just plain no corn on the cob.
Yes some are good I have got 4 decent ones from the bag the rest must have as much as 4" cut off the end.

Save your money.
This is the place I went.

Nice enough people. Maybe the weather ruined it for this years batch.
Maybe I am used to better corn.
I got 25 pieces for my 12 bucks after shucking and they range from 2.5" long to 8" long after cutting the bad ends off.
Most being 5-6" long.
Last time I got Corn from gore it was $8 for 80 ears, all were excellent with only 1"-2" needing cut off the ends. That was many moons ago.

That's too bad about this years crop. We've been getting it out there for years and I've never seen it like that. Usually it's top notch but sometimes it happens.

Well, you got me to thinking about my own corn crop, which I haven't checked in 4/5 days, so I grabbed my cell phone and went to the corn patch.

First pics is the edge of my corn patch which is by my little shooting range.

Second shows most of my corn patch (60X80)

I had to shuck a likely looking prospect and it looks pretty fair. Not going to be my best corn crop. Pollination is perhaps 80%.
I'm sure to have plenty of cornworms on the ends. I am a strictly organic grower, so I have to share with them.

When the local coons start harvesting with a vengeance, it is time for me to gather it all up:)

Happy independence day to all!

I got a couple bushels for a corn roast. Got my burlap from Atwood’s for $1.50 a sack.
Throw some quartered up onions and some andouille sausage in then season to taste.

Free Trapper that corn looks nice and plump.. not molded or turned to wet mush at the top where the worms eat.
I do not mind the worms.. but soggy dried out looking kernels that's another story.

I bet you ate that corn right there didn't you :)

Well, as a matter of fact, I did.

But I have to go easy....too much raw corn gives me the Oklahoma quick step:)
