Haven't read past page one, but folks, secession really pushes one of my buttons. I recall telling a gun store customer who was spouting off about it that I would gladly kill him in the street if he tried to destroy my country. That's how I feel. This is my country, and I love it with all its warts, and any sumbich that wants to break it up will get maximum resistance from me.

I think many of you know I am pretty laid back about most stuff, but not this. Maybe it's fun for some to talk about, and one certainly has the freedom to talk about it in this country, but to act on it is different.

Yea for Texas leaving the union? Not me, and I was born there. I can assure you that most Texans think this is bullcrap.

I'd recommend you go back and take the time to read the thread then. All is not what it seems on the surface. :(

I love the United States of America, but what I love about this country isn't the cities and states that make it up. What I love is the idea upon which it was founded, which the current leadership in Washington is doing all in its power to destroy. The country we live in today is more similar to Soviet Russia than the country envisioned by our Founders.

If Texas ever DOES secede, sayonara Oklahoma.

The former Soviet union had very few similarities to any era within the United States. A nice point of comparison is that Stalin killed more of his citizens than Hitler did during all of WW II with his "final solution."

Evoking the Soviets (and of course the Nazis) is a common way to sling mud at whoever. If you said such a thing in either of those governments, you would likely have been killed. I am by no means happy with everything that is currently going on in our country, but things could be a lot worse.

Instead of making hoperbolic "we all gonna die!" statements, look at the reality we live in and see what you can realistically do to change what you want changed. I have read a good many of your posts, and I think you are smarter than your current post would indicate.

I am plowing through it, but the basic thread was about secession, and included some very supportive comments early on.

Freedom of speech is alive and well, and I would be the last person to wish to restrict it. I stand by what I said. I am against secession by any state, and will oppose it to include the loss of whatever is left of my life. It isn't funny to me.

From the parts that I have now read, it seems to be a manifestation of agony at the results of the Presidental election. More moaning and groaning instead of looking for ways out of the mess.
