A bit of progress on the ‘55. We applied a coat of chassis paint to the frame in the engine bay. We’ll do more of the frame as we go but mainly wanted to get this area ready for new suspension, brake lines, and engine.
Any complex project like this one, you'll normally find that for each thing you need to do. There are 10 other things that have to be done first. Plus they're another manifestation of Cheops Law. "Nothing is ever done on time or within budget."The project is still ongoing. The interior is out of it for the time being and the dash is all gutted. I’ve discovered (no surprise to many I’m sure) that with these old cars the timeline and the parts list tends to go in directions not originally planned. Some of the things we didn’t originally plan to focus on are now getting done as it’s easier to do now than later. For example, it’s easier to put a headliner in when there’s no interior in the car. But, the rear part of the headliner tucks under the rear windshield seal and there’s no way that 70 year old seal is going to flex enough for that. So it will need to be replaced before the headliner goes in. Pretty much how it’s going at the moment. Here’s some photos of work along the way.
Definitely going with sound deadening. I’m getting somewhat close on the floor. Going to paint it first then apply the Dynamat sort of stuff. Also planning to stick it in the roof of the car once we get the headliner out. No doubt the project is a blast and I’m honored to be working on it. Just slow going! It’s Coming Along.
Learn that above phrase. People ask, you say It’s Coming Along!
Another product that will cut all heat and noise is Lizard Skin. Dyna mat is an absolute under carpet.
