1) If christians are so quiet about their religion then why are many requesting their own forum? Evidence of christians professing their beliefs is rampant throughout society, and on this board. More power to them.

2) If they talk about their religion in public then someone might relay a bit of reality and history. That's just how voicing an opinion in public goes.

3) christians don't want their actual moral shortcomings pointed out.

I said actual.

1) Well said.

2) Reality is relative, no? I can't tell you what is reality in your life, as you can't in mine.

3) I've said before and will say again...... I'm not perfect, haven't been, won't be, not without moral flaw, haven't been, won't be, no Christian has been, is or will be......that's the whole point of believing what I believe and have faith in.......and also something that I can't make you or any other person who doesn't believe, to understand what I have faith in, no matter what I might say. That's above what I'm capable of, or any other Christian (not just you, anyone who doesn't believe.) It doesn't make me better or worse than you, just different in what I believe, and how I go through life. If any Christian condemns you for who you are, or what you do, they don't have a full understanding about "what it's all about" either.

I could quote you all sorts of scripture, Biblical studies, dates, facts, "questionable" fact, non Biblical studies, polls, history.....blah, blah, blah, but it's all about His grace, and until you've been blessed with it, and are living in it, I'd say it's impossible to understand from my perspective.............and I'm pretty sure I don't understand it fully yet either...........and I'm okay with that, I'm learning every day.

In all fairness it doesn't matter what my reality is or yours. One can reference all around us and see evidence of christians professing their belief in everyday life in several ways. I could chose not to see it I guess, but it doesn't change the fact that it is there 100 fold over what an atheist might relay.

Finally, your last comments are why christian moral beliefs don't hold any water with me. They surely aren't exclusive and they seem to always give themselves a huge back door to exit to sin when convenient with the "we aren't perfect" philosophy. Granted many don't take this to the extreme but a significant number does. That and the fact that christians seemed to have moved the goalposts so to speak throughout history, as to what and what isn't moral. Look no further than the catholic church for an example.

The results of the imperfections of man and failing to follow the teachings of Jesus. The "goal posts" will always move as our understanding of the physical world evolves. Looks to me like it is moving in the right direction now.

I don't think that our understanding of the physical world has anything to do with it. Let's take WWII for example, was German and Italy full of atheists? Nope. Seems those goalposts are all over the place when convenient. We are horrified by what ISIS does to non-believers..... the reality is that just 70 years ago..... a nation full of christians stood by and committed atrocities infinitely worse that what current radical muslims have done.

Again, the imperfections and failing of man - Not following the teachings of God / Jesus.

Granted, I did not read all 13 pages of comments but, why does this on-line forum feel the need to involve itself in the addition of religious devotion to this rifle/handgun shooters forum?
I'm sure there are many other platforms to engage in this topic.

Many Christian OSA members felt harassed by the Atheist OSA members - the "Christians Only forum" is hoped to be a refuge for expression of Christian viewpoints, although not intended to be exclusively or predominately religously oriented.

In case you hadn't noticed, everytime a Christian makes a religious statement, multiple Atheists will assert that religion is evil, hypocritical, evil or what have you.

Whether or not the christian forum addition will work as hoped remains to be seen.

The original topic was about a Christian forum.

The bigger question is why is there going to be a “Christian Forum”?

Is it because some pesky Lutherans are trying to proselytize heathens who don’t see the light of shooting a 1911? Is it because some Catholics are trying to convert the shooting world to 9mm?

Or is there going to be a “Christian Forum” because people have had enough of religious bigots that troll forums such as this to post their hate simply because some believe differently than they do?

Does anyone think that a separate forum page will stop the religious bigots from flaming Christians? A better solution than a “Christian Forum” would be to have a zero tolerance policy to religious bigotry. There is a zero tolerance towards racial bigotry, right? Make it the same for religious bigotry. Enforce a civil discourse policy that treats bigotry as bigotry.

Here are three things I've learned from this thread.
1 - Atheists profess their nonbelief more than Christians profess their belief.
2 - Christians would like to talk about their faith without all the smarmy attacks.
3 - Atheists don't want their perceived moral shortcomings pointed out.
I said perceived.

Well said.
