Somewhere recently I learned that muriatic acid isn’t a good idea.
Wondered that myself. When racing 2 strokes, we would get piston scuffing on the cylinder or have a seizure. We would remove the aluminum skuff with muratic acid.
I was referring back to the OP, when acid caused the original problem resulting in this thread to begin with.
That acid eats up aluminum quickly. Big foaming action.The acid ate the holes out so big the detent ,roll pin ,& spring were detached when I picked up the trigger guard out of the acid . The roll pin hole was so big the pin just dropped through it. I was checking every little bit. But was only looking at the black finish witch was not removed at all
