I'm glad to see that some people get to enjoy themselves at retirement still! I have another 20-25 years of work (hopefully 20) and hope that they actually let me keep the money that I've been saving.

In my case, I can retire now, but at 62, I'll have to rely on my wifes insurance until medicare kicks in.
She hit 40 years in the same job Friday, and is 56. Not sure if she will still have her job much longer as the company got bought out and they have been dumping senior employees.
I don't want to spend the majority of SS payments on insurance.

What do you guys that retired early do for health insurance?

My wife is carrying me for now, was self insured for awhile, also have indian health. Not sure yet what options are as far as Obamma care, daughter is sposed to look into that.

I've been looking seriously at that Oklahoma Surgical center. Saw a program about them the other day. They charge a monthly fee depending on your age, and its unlimited services, including outpatient surgery's if they can do them there. I see a Dr about twice a year, and its only a hundred miles, so I'm thinking that might be an option.

I retired in 2009. I get to have a little fun every now and then. My folks are handicapped so I spend alot of time helping them. It's kinda fun driving the HC van.

Our firm has many pre-medicare retirees, and they self-insure. Typically, it's very expensive to keep people on their spouse's group and a number of companies are starting to kick people off. Definitely some exceptions out there though. Heard nothing but good things about Oklahoma Surgical Center. Wished more doc groups would employ that kind of transparency.

I'll be putting up with the Man's BS for many, many years to come. The idea of retirement is a mere dream at this point. All kinds of jealous of you guys and gals who don't have to dread Sunday nights knowing the Monday morning alarm is coming.

A few more years for me but I'm getting retirement lined up.

Condo in Vegas(Boulder City) ..check

Commercial Drivers License(A-CDL)..check.........when we move to the Vegas area(Boulder City) I'll get my passenger endorsement. I don't use it here in Oklahoma, but want to in Vegas.

Job in Vegas...not yet. With my CDL(A) and passenger endorsement I want to transport people to and from the airport/casino. If not that, be a valet for a casino. If not that, drive a rig/hot shot of some sort to deliver beer, pop, food to the casino. Dedicated driver hauling something to Vegas and Southern California and back. **If those won't work......I guess I'll substitute teach Science class in High School or Middle School out there.
**I will NOT drive a school bus..I'll be up for murder!!**

**Bottom line** Stay active!! I've know to many people that just sit and become vegetative...die soon afterwards. It's sad to visit some of my old buddies and when I go in they're den or go to their house for lunch....they're watching Jerry Springer or some sort of trash talk show. It puts a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye to know what they were to what they've become.

I'm gonna die while working somewhere or at a blackjack/poker/craps table. I'm going out with my boots on...and if I can't...my wife will follow out my wish/request. I can't sit in a human warehouse(nursing home)!! Don't get me wrong...they have their place. Just not for me!!!

I retired from the Army in 2005. I went hunting, killed a 150 class deer, an elk, and a turkey, that year. I bought a Harley, gained 40 pounds, my daughter made me a grandpa, and I started going to the gym. I decided, teaching looked fun and rewarding. So, I have been teaching History for the past several years.

Agree sounds pretty good. Thinking of that one myself.

Good to see planning being done. Agree with the idea of staying active for sure. I've seen what too much inactivity can do for some.
