So do you throw out a program because a few screw it up, or force their ideas on others? If so, then the first time a CCW holder makes a bad shoot, throw out that right. And before you say it, Life Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness is a right for all Americans, minors and adults alike. No, I am not saying welfare is a right, but living in a society demands responsibility for less fortunate.

To respond to your other comment, I do not force others to pay for my morals. I have been a foster parent, adopted 3 children, and tried to teach my children social responsibility by taking care of our known widows, and those in need either by food, or services. Not trying to toot my horn, don't really care what you think of me, just get tired of people taking the "morally high judgemental road".

Generalizations are stupid in any opinion, there are always abuses and always exceptions.

want to just say Amen. Can't lump all welfare recipeants in one pile, the drug test for those getting it was a step in the right direction.

Still not 5%...nearly 25%. Call it what you want, but it's a large portion, including Social Security, of federal expenditures not even remotely connected to the enumerated powers of the federal government. If we can't talk about that...then there is no point talking. The problem will never be solved.

Where does anyone get the idea that it is ok to "force their ideas on others"? I didn't make a generalization. While there may be a moral or ethical obligation to provide assistance to certain people, it is immoral to perpetuate their misfortune through government policy. Additionally, government has no business legislating moral or ethics. Government is force, pure and simple, and those rights of which you speak existed before government. No person has the right to live off the product of others unless they both agree to the conditions. CCW isn't a right, it is another government control. Self-defense is the unalienable right.

I do not take any moral high ground. However, my moral code tells me it is wrong to steal from one person to give to another. Yes, Robin Hood was a thief, no matter how 'moral' his motives.

You choose to be a foster parent and that is admirable. That is not a choice available to me.

The key word here is choice and "Pursuit of Happiness" does not mean you have a right to capture it at the expense of others.
