The boots aren't melting, just the asphalt tar getting heated up. Same thing happens here in Oklahoma all summer.

It is hot in Iraq. Its miserable hot.
I haven't been there, but have been in SE Asia where it got to be 125 degrees with 100% humidity in the jungles.
These folks have to endure temperatures that kill most citizens that are not physically fit, and acclimated to those temperatures.

I agree. Miserable heat. If you aren't acclimated, it is bad. Even if you ARE acclimated, it sucks.

My backyard thermometer that NEVER gets sun on it (meaning it is always in the SHADE) hit 118 this summer here in Oklahoma.
