Folks opinions on selling handgun to 18 year old? Had a deal set up to sell to a new member on here for a few days we finally got to meet up this evening. Gentleman never stated he was under 21 and I never asked. I declined the sell on the handgun. Is there a legal issue with it? Does it warrant negative feedback? Is it a courtesy to let everyone else know who the person is?? Thoughts, opinions let’s hear them.
Legal or not, I agree with your decision. :thumb:
I’ve met quite a few members on here, and there’s some damn shady characters among them.🤣

Hmm, 18 is legal age to do almost anything else. Considered an adult and can enter into binding contracts. Is it illegal for an adult to purchase and own a handgun from a private sale in Oklahoma?

In this case, I’d ask the buyer to bring a parent or other responsible adult to vouch for the sale. My mom bought me my first handgun at 18 (with my money).
I got my Dad to help me buy a Ruger MK I .22 target pistol (my first quality handgun), when I was 19 years old.The guy working the gun counter at Skaggs didn’t blink an eye when Dad signed the form and I paid and happily walked out with my prize. Wasn’t trying any subterfuge, just wanted this new pistol to take to the new indoor range. Started a lifetime of enjoyment, learning.

My Dad did the same for me twice at Carter Country in Houston. Once when I was about 14 to buy a grade 2 Browning Auto 22, and the second when I was 18 to buy a Ruger Super Single Six 22/22mag. I still have both guns.
