CHRC= Criminal History Records Check. IIRC my CJ courses( Been awhile :wink2: )
How about we enforce the laws we have now, instead of making it even more restrictive for a law abiding person to buy/sell a gun.
Obviously the buyers broke the law buying the gun, No mater if at a gun show, person to person private sale, Or on the street corner.
The seller, may or may not have asked if the buyer was prohibited, who knows. I'm just glad the officer was on his toes and got them off the street.

I missed something. Was this a straw purchase through an FFL at a gun show, using the third man with no record, or was it a private transaction at a gun show?

(edited: All three had charges pending or on the record? I'm confused, never mind)

Seems to me the system worked. Bad guys did bad stuff and an on-the-ball cop did his job. Why do my rights have to be restricted because the system worked?

You're proposing 4473's for private sales. That's adding additional bureaucracy that interferes with our 2a rights.

To put it as simply as possible, and you may quote me on this if you like: "It's nobodies god damned business who I buy a gun from, how many guns I buy, or how many guns I carry. I'm not a criminal, and I should not be treated like one - It's a waste of my time to fill out a 4473 and wait on a phone call."

The more restrictions and paper trails we put in place, the easier it will be to round them all up. You can either be pro-2a, or against us. There is no middle ground.

Sorry, but views like this are the greatest threat to 2A rights we have. When you claim to own the truth, you have declared yourself irrelevant to the argument. When you say there is no middle ground (or compromise) you are irrelevant to the argument. They can ban all long guns and let you have a .22 pistol. Then you own a gun, and therefore your right to own a gun has not been infringed. Extremism on both sides is the enemy.

I'm not saying that I'm willing to have some of my weapons taken from me. I'm saying that this is the problem that has infected the government right now, no compromise. We see where this gets us, haven't we?

These guys got busted out of sheer bad luck (on their part). Should our system depend on luck to work?

I agree. There is going to have to be a "slight" compromise on this, or I fear we may lose it all.

I can't believe some of you guys are screaming for more laws already. We already have too many gun laws as it is! What happened here? A bad guy tried to purchase a gun and got caught....so what's the problem? People need to start taking a stand before its too late. No more room for compromising.

What "system" is it that you say worked in this case?

A cop saw evidence of a crime being committed, followed a lead and made a bust. Bad guys in jail. That system.

If this was purely a private transaction, why does there need to be any more of a "system" than that? Whether it took place at a gun show or not? Gun show promoters are free to self-police and only allow licensed FFLs if we/they think this is such a huge problem. Why do we need the .gov to step in?
