Actually, I'm good with this. Only exception, I want a handgun license to give the purchaser a pass.

Really? A "locked up" situation where individuals can be jacked up by dealers with no other business than doing transfers and "having to charge accordingly" to recoup their table cost and time.

Doesn't free market play a part in this? What is the going cost for these gun show transfers in Colorado? Seems that unless it's regulated, competition between dealers would make for a lower price... I really don't know how it works in practice.

I just had this conversation with my mom last week. She's of the opinion that "the gun show loophole" needs to be plugged but she's not rabid on that point. Other than that she's right with the rest of us, she doesn't like gun control and I frankly can't ever remember her even having fired a gun. She's just not into guns, but she has no issue with them. I explained to her that it's no different than my stepdad buying or selling a gun from their neighbor friend, just that it's in a different location.

Instead of doing away with private sales I'd much rather see these knuckleheads get 10 years mandatory, no early release, no copping a plea to a lesser charge, but 10 full calendar years in prison. How 'bout that?
But I fear that we are going to see some form of regulated private sales. I don't like it one bit either, but I agree the SDA permit holder should get a pass, they've already been checked out.

I'm not sure of the details or pricing, that being said did auto insurance go up or down when it became mandatory?
And has it stopped uninsured drivers?

I don't think that's a valid comparison. The cost of claims has also gone up during the same time period. IT costs more to repair cars than it used to. Medical bills for the same procedure are easily a factor of 10 higher than they were before. Apples to oranges.

If I were a felon, and really needed a gun, one that is tough to track, where would I go?

How hard would it be?

just food for thought.

I can check background a little on this computer. If you know someone's name you can get on odcr.com or oscn.net and check county records for current and pending cases and do an offender search @ ok dept. of corrections web site. I am sure it ain't 100% but you can get info on someone's record.

If I remember correctly rates started going up immediately after insurance became mandatory. Regardless the fact remains that people still drive without insurance. Criminals will be criminals, laws will not change that.
And there's still the B.S. hypocrisy that this is about crime and not just guns.

from what i understand its 50 for any transfers including new guns. havent lived there for 20 years but thats what i have been told and thats per call.

now the whole free market thing. look at what is going on with transfers now. 20 to 40 bucks for ffl transfers. maybe it could be as simple as closing the gun show loophole is to require the gun shows to provide the background check at their cost since the cost of a gun show is now 11 to 15 bucks.

I guess my issue with no background check and it is the real problem besides bad guys getting them is the mental health issue and the idiots that demand that they be allowed to keep guns unlocked and unsecured though many want to be like Switzerland and Israel. if they only knew what the law's were really there and not the myths we hear
