I see nothing wrong with anything i saw Don Spencer do on his videos. He got a little pushy at times but that was to get these robots to actually listen to what the law states. I don't believe him to be an attention getter. It seems to me he is simply using modern day technology and tactics to get results. And evidently he gets results. Things like facehook and youtube are what people use for activism today. And it's no wonder. I have plenty of coworkers that spend more time watching videos than they do talking to each other.I think you are somewhat correct on Spencer's "pullback" and I guess I've not seen any of the videos you mention. All the ones I've seen Spencer doing, he's basically wearing normal street clothes. He's never been all "tac'd out". No load bearing vests with extra AR mags, extra pistol mags, etc. to go with his AR or long gun. As a matter of fact I've seen a couple where he wasn't actually carrying at all. He was just looking to see what the police response would be when he presented his permit.
My take on him is he did "back off" on his public image like he should have because he seems to have moderated even from the last videos I've seen him post. As a matter of fact I haven't seen him doing an "audit" at all in some time, but I could have easily missed them. My point is that I've never seen him look or act like an ass. I can't honestly say the same about Harper.
And I too still haven't jumped on the OK2A train fully, though of late they seem to be doing good work and not coming across like jackasses.
True. In fact it was fairly common back in Wyoming while i was growing up and still is. It's only the tourists that get nervous about it there.

I think I'll look into his organization. I here they are responsible for a good deal of pro-gun legislation.
I believe that was Harper that did those things, not Don Spencer. He carried an AR pistol in the park in Edmond. The LE response was a waste of their time and resources.
He carried an AR rifle into Twin Peaks probably mistaking it for the AR pistol. i think he realized his mistake and that fact was evident when he was arrested at H & H. He made the statement, "Is this about the rifle?" to which the arresting officer responded, "I believe it is."
In a nutshell, the D.A. saw his chance and took it eliminating a pain in his butt.
It was Harper. Attention whore and all-round idiot.I believe that was Harper that did those things, not Don Spencer.
I can't speak for everyone but I'll tell you why I open carry. Mainly it's because concealed carry is a pain in the butt and in most cases unnecessary. I realize many people argue it makes one a target. There may be some venues where that is a concern. I personally believe most of the time the best course of action is constant vigilance and situational awareness (something i practice even when unarmed as a husband, father, and grandfather), maintaining the ability to deploy ones defensive weapon unhindered by clothing, and good old fashioned avoidance of areas that are suspect. I believe open carry is a deterrent. If more folks carried openly i believe public areas and events would be safer.Maybe not but there are a lot of voters out there just waiting for a chance to take away our gun rights. A lot of things have changed in 150 years but if you want to open carry then saddle up and ride cowboy. Just leave them shooting irons in the saddle bag before you venture into the Long Branch for a shot of whiskey. We know you boys are manly men if you open carry.
Just curious though, why do you choose to open carry? I know it’s legal but really don’t understand why someone would choose to in an urban environment? Seems like it just draws attention to you whether wanted or not.

The other reason i usually prefer not to hide my handgun runs counter to the argument that we will scare people. I want people to become accustomed to seeing it so they have less of a reason to fear it. Unfamiliarity with firearms today is a major factor in creating fear in the general public. In my home state this is not much of a problem. Here is an interesting observation. When i go to Tulsa or OKC i go armed. I've been to many types of business where people witnessed me carry openly. There have been a few glances but in general people don't seem concerned. However, one time while i was carrying concealed my pistol became partially uncovered while reaching for my wallet at Walmart. THAT incident caused quite a stir among some young people. Go figure.
I’ll answer. No and no. Anyone that says concealed is a pain in the butt but open carry isn’t, can’t be too aware of what’s best practice. What gun and holster do you normally carry openly? Do you have any training in firearms retention?
