Do you think they should set it back in the '70s, like the book, or set it in modern times? You'd have to do something different for the parts that take place in Vietnam if you made it modern... I guess you could set that in the stan or something.

I think it would be better to set it back in the day.

That is an awesome book... I read it when I was in middle school, and I thought it was pretty gnarly. That is the first time I learned about things like how to build a suppressor, where the medula oblongata is and how to stab somebody there to kill them instantly, how to make a "bang stick," what barbiturates are, what a pimp and a ho is, and lots of cool new expressions to use around my friends. lol.

I hadn't thought of Viggo Mortenson and I think he would be a good choice.

Kelly was ex military, and young(er). I'd have to reread it, but Viggo just doesn't cut it in my mind.

Neeson would have been far better as Bourne, and better fitting than Viggo, but still not quite there. Although he rocked in Taken!

In 1966 John D. McDonald wrote "Darker Than Amber" I believe Clancy stole the plot for "Without Remorse"(in part).

This and some of his other stories have the "I've read this somewhere before" feel to me.

I'd rather read Vince Flynn.

I could see Thomas Jane (Punisher) as John Kelley. There's a rumor that Joaquin Phoenix is considering the role. That would be worse than William Defoe as John Clark.
