I understand having your tonsils taken out as a kid is annoying. Having them taken out as a 44 year old is... just wow. I've been through many surgeries in my life and this is astounding. I can't believe how much this hurts. Apparently, it's a big enough deal that my doctor requested two weeks off for me and my insurance responded with an answer of sure, and here's two extra days for your trouble.
But you can have ALL THE ICE CREAM IN THE WORLD that you can eat!
Actually, they tell you not to eat ice cream now. Creates to much mucus in the throat. I had mine out when I was 39, and yep, I had two weeks off. Needed every bit of a week to feel safe swallowing. Mine were so big the surgeon had to stich up my throat, he couldn't just caterize the area. It'll be a whole new world for you now. Take your pain medicine 30 minutes before you eat, it makes all the difference. I lived on tapioca pudding for the first week. Hang in there, drink tons of water, sleep a lot, and read lots of gun stuff while your off. Let me know if you have any questions on how I made it through it, I might be able to give you an idea or two.
I just read this my wife, we both snickered a little because it wasn't to long ago the we went through this and we feel your pain. She wanted me to mention the way I made it through it was: "Awesome Wife"........and it's true.

That, sir, is the truest thing I've read in quite some time. My wife has discovered that I can eat overdone mac-n-cheese in the box and under cooked, scrambled eggs. She's a bloody saint, I tell ya.
Ughk! I hate to hear this. I am supposed to have mine out next year....
See if your doc will give you a script for 1-2-3 mouthwash. It might help the pain.
