I've been told that for adults (I have nasty tonsils that need to come out but I'm resisting) a tonsilectomy is a major surgery. If it hurts anything like my breast reduction did, NO THANK YOU! :drooling::cry3: I'd had several abdominal surgeries before my reduction for this, that or the other over the years and thought I knew what I was getting into. Just about the time the general anesthesia started wearing off I figured out just how mistaken I was ... :uhh::cry3:

Here's to hoping you have an uneventful recovery (thanks to your totally awesome wife :wink2:)!!

Had mine out in August, 1971 - about a month before my 21st birthday. Wasn't much fun, but it helped with the constant sore throat, tonsilities, infection, fever, etc. every time I got wet & cold.

Good Luck!

I had mine out when they let you bring them home with you. I don't remember the surgery or the following recovery, but I remember those tonsils in a jar.

Why are you having them out?

I get some type of throatitis about once a year than can leave me in a fetal position, overdosing on NyQuil and cursing my parents for bringing me into this cruel world. It was so bad this September I went to the doctor for the third time since 1995. Ruptured appendix -> car wreck w/fatalities -> my thwoat hurts. People tell me having them out would help this, but these people probably forged their high school diploma and they are usually drunk when doling out medical advice, so I'm not sure I trust their diagnoses.

I'm constantly sick with everything from sniffles to big time colds. Ridgehunter. You never knew when I was gonna be sick and for how long. Doc says this will help that tremendously.

I fully support this mode of self preservation. Most people die in hospitals so I believe it's statistically prudent to avoid them.
