For nighttime action I used above.

And for overall bass slaying. If I only had known about trailer hooks back when I was a young pup. Who know hows many fished I missed on a buzz bait before I realized there was such a thing.

In my younger years, ie before becoming an old fart, when the youngest son and I went tubing, my favorite and most successful top water lure was a hula popper in ponds. I don't think I ever failed to catch fish using that lure while sitting in a tube. If I were to fish on a pond today my first lure would be a hula popper.

Heres some from way back in the day. The brass and yellow hair buzz bait is from the 20s. Its called a Flutter Jack, worth between $35-65 and I use it regularly, as well as the rest of them.

That's like a trip back in time to my dads tackle box when I was a kid!

I've got an antique lure in it's box somewhere, I gotta find that thing and see if it's worth anything.

I dug around and found some of my grandpa's top water lures.

First is a cordel "good ol boy"

Next is a smithwick devils horse dancer

Next is the crown Jewell. Its a frog that extends its legs when pulled, and blows up the water in front of it with the bill.

The next two are unknown, but the bottom one has bb's in the body to rattle. All are over 50+ years old. The frog was appraised at $75 by the guy that donated his collection to the ODW aquarium at Jenks.

Yeah, well Dennis you now have another Old timey lure on order. A Gilmore "GO GETTER" from my life long friend Dennis Gilmore. I have ordered 4 in red and white. Dennis and his family have been making wooden top water lures since 1950 in NW Arkansas. I ordered 1 for you, Sticky Stokes, Huckleberry 75 and another for myself. Justin Gilmore should have them painted shortly for me. Happy August 1st, or something like that. Just in time for use on the lake or pond. Sticky - You bought your tube yet?????????????
