Are the oil tankers discharging their cargo into the ocean? I'm not sure I'm following your train of thought.
What would that have to do with mercury levels in the ocean?
I’m not sure which pollutants boat exhaust and such puts in the water, but I think he’s implying that area probably sees more general pollution than our small inland lakes

The great lakes have a mercury alert which also has a high ship population. Lower than Oklahoma.

The Great Lakes Basin draws millions of anglers each year to fish in its lakes, rivers and streams.

In addition, millions more of the region’s residents consume those fish.

The problem is, only about half the people in the Great Lakes states are aware of such advisories, according to a recent study from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The study in the journal “Science of the Total Environment” found that 5 million people exceeded the recommended fish intake of two meals or 12 ounces per week, as suggested by the Environmental Protection Agency, over the study’s 12-month survey period.

Notably, women, nonwhites, younger residents and those with lower education levels were less aware of fish advisories, and thus more prone to eat more than the recommended amount, researchers found.

Big ships burn diesel and discharge their exhaust into the air unlike an outboard motor on our small lakes that discharge the exhaust into the water to muffle it.

Tilapia is used in wast water treatment plants then sold to you for consumption.

My son drives an 18 wheeler and picked up a load of those fish.
I do not remember where but here in the states.

The place he picked them up was a waste water plant and one of the guys there said do not eat Tilapia from the USA.
He said they eat the human waste and many die and float up and are scooped up and sold for consumption.

NO THANKS!

Then human waste thing is disturbing but if you think deeper like all the medicine/drugs that they are swimming and eating in must be in the meat
I learned this years ago and wife had just bought a box of tilapia at Sam's. I went to the freezer and put that crap in big blue.
