http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/sep/18/trump-backs-2nd-amendment-national-concealed-carry/

GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump said Friday the government should expand gun rights for law-abiding citizens and focus more on cracking down on violent criminals and making sure guns don’t fall into the hands of the mentally ill.

Mr. Trumpmade the arguments in a “position paper” on the Second Amendment in which he makes the case that people who don’t break the law should be able to obtain a concealed carry permit allowing them to carry in every state, and that members of the military should be able to carry their arms on military bases and at recruitment centers.
He also voices his opposition to banning ammunition magazines.

“The Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right that belongs to all law-abiding Americans,” Mr. Trump said in the paper. “The Constitution doesn’t create that right - it ensures that the government can’t take it away. Our Founding Fathers knew, and our Supreme Court has upheld, that the Second Amendment’s purpose is to guarantee our right to defend ourselves and our families. This is about self-defense, plain and simple.”

The New York billionaire is polling first nationally, as well as in Iowa and New Hampshire, which hosts the first two nomination contests. But he is facing intense scrutiny from Democrats and some of his Republican presidential rivals for not challenging a questioner at a town hall meeting Thursday night in New Hampshire who claimed that President Obama is a Muslim.

Citing a business conflict, Mr. Trump then canceled an appearances Friday at Heritage Action’s Take Back America presidential candidate forum in South Carolina, where 10 other GOP presidential candidates are scheduled to appear.

“Mr. Trump has a significant business transaction that was expected to close Thursday. Due to the delay he is unable to attend today’s Heritage Action Presidential Forum,” the campaign said in a press release.

About two hours later the Trump camp rolled out his position paper on gun rights, advocating for national concealed carry.

“A driver’s license works in every state, so it’s common sense that a concealed carry permit should work in every state. If we can do that for driving - which is a privilege, not a right - then surely we can do that for concealed carry, which is a right, not a privilege,” he said.

Mr. Trump said the nation’s mental health system has allowed people who should not have guns to obtain them.

“We need to expand treatment programs, because most people with mental health problems aren’t violent, they just need help.” he wrote. “But for those who are violent, a danger to themselves or others, we need to get them off the street before they can terrorize our communities. This is just common sense.”

“And why does this matter to law-abiding gun owners? Once again, because they get blamed by anti-gun politicians, gun control groups and the media for the acts of deranged madmen,” he said.

https://ca.news.yahoo.com/donald-trumps-top-campaign-expense-hats-t-shirts-045637730.html

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Republican frontrunner Donald Trump spent more on hats, bumper stickers, yard signs and t-shirts than he did on any other category in the third quarter, according to his latest campaign finance report filed on Thursday.
The Trump campaign shelled out $825,000 on the logo-emblazoned gear that he sells on a website and routinely tosses to supporters at his rock concert-like campaign events.
His next biggest line item was for flights on his personal 757 jet: more than $700,000.
The finance report is just the latest illustration of how, when it comes to the 2016 presidential election, Trump is breaking with tradition.

I think it's telling that what the other candidates are having to pay for (media advertising), Trump is getting for free. What candidate understands the economy and knows how to make it work for them more so than Trump? :)

Hillary and Sanders have raised 50 some million between them. No republican candidate comes even close if we leave trump out.
When it comes to getting the message out, the dims will walk all over the R's in ad sales.
When it's the uninformed voters that is the biggest block of voters, we get Hillary for prez.
The stupid Republican Party better wake up.
They are still locked on the theory that they have to pander to the independents just like in the last two elections they lost.
The R's better start pandering to the pissed off Americans that are sick and freeking tired of the beltway stupidity when it comes to elections. [emoji35]

You're thinking in terms of traditional campaigns. Trump isn't running an old school campaign. He doesn't have to spend money on advertising he's getting it for free. CNN & FOX have him on their various news show multiple times a week.

Don't underestimate Trump. He full well understands the psychology behind what he's doing.

That's why I said leaving out Trump in my rant. He didn't make 10 billion or so by being stupid.

The "old white guy club" is not going to go without kicking and screaming.

This brings to mind something I've been thinking about for awhile and evidently I'm not alone. I heard today on the Rick Roberts show campaign donations being discussed. What they were talking about was what happens to the leftover money in a candidate's warchest? Answer: It stays there and grows. The are still bound by only using it for campaign purposes but what if they don't run again? I'm under the impression that they just hang on to it forever. They talked about someone who hadn't ran for office in over 5 years, but this cat still had in excess of 5 million in his account. From the number it sounded like a state office. I know that Jeb had over 100 million and I'm sure that some of it was leftover from his governor race(s). I don't know what the answer is, but it doesn't seem right to let that money stay "in play" for eternity. Can you imagine what Hillary and some other dims can dream up with that?

Edit: This is just one of the things that make Trump look good to people. He's also had some 73,000 people send him money for a few million even though he doesn't need it.
