I keep seeing these conversations talking about staying out of conflicts in the mid-east that don't concern us. I totally agree with that, but I think a direct attack on our embassy and personnel DOES concern us and we should retaliate accordingly. I don't care about why they did it. I'm no longer concerned with "why they fight", etc. I don't need a history lesson of our long involvement in foreign affairs, I'm well aware of it. The only thing a bunch of rabid soccer fans bent on murder can understand is a force stronger than them. We have that. It needs to be used. We bombed Libya once after killing civilians and marines in discos and other places around the world, I see the deaths of U.S. personnel at our embassies as no different. Bomb them again.

And their troops out of that part of the world.
I realize I may have misunderstood the meaning of your post!
I agree that if the will to fight and win is not in the hearts of our civilian leadership then the troops need to come home. To leave them there without allowing them to do their job is to invite disaster, and is a terrible disservice to the men and women in our armed forces.

But....they are peaceful people and we provoked them by telling the world that their god is a womanizing child molester. We should ask the Westboro Baptist Church to deliver our apologies in person.

And heres the trailer of the terrible movie that people need to die over.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntgzoE7rU9A

I was forced to watch that in a security briefing this morning. I could feel the brain cells dying as it played. By the time it was over, I wanted to kill the producer! :uhh:

nothing like suggesting killing 3 million to avenge 3.

I wouldn't personally suggest that, but what they did was tantamount to a declaration of war. Lybia should be jumping through hoops right now to make this calm down. They should be rounding up the protesters and finding the killers. They should issue a formal public apology for the attack. They should flood the area with security forces and quell any additional unrest that might negatively impact the embassy. Short of that, I'd be moving a carrier group and a Marine Expeditionary Unit (SOC) off their coast.

This type of aggression should command a vigorous response. Either by them, or by us. :(
