It has always bothered me that the majority of veterans I know including myself are working on the one day set aside to honor all vets.All state and federal employees are home enjoying a day off and many of them never having served a day on active or reserve duty.Whats the deal"
I'll be at work too.....oh well.
yep I'll be working. I typically try to take holidays such as memorial day, veterans day and then the big ones off work simply on principle

I always try to take Veterans day off as one of my floating holidays.
For my money Veterans day outgh to be a bigger holiday than Labor day.

Got a 24 hr shift on Veteran's day as well. No free buffet at Golden Corral for me....
Probably just take a moment or two to give thanks to those that weren't as fortunate or just plain lucky as me. That's kind of what Veteran's day and the other 364 mean to me.

I have the day off. I'll be spending it giving back to vets that gave more than me. I'll be driving to San Antonio to work the Honored American Veterans Afield event on the 13th.
I'm off, riding with a group of Veterans to the capitol for a ceremony. A large number of Veterans do work for federal and state agencies. If your company doesn't observe the holiday, it's something you have to try to change, take a vacation day, or just put up with. I will be thinking of all who served, including myself in the good old USMC. I'm also going to a breakfast on the 10th for the Marine Corps birthday. Semper Fi.
I don't undertand why kids have school on Veteran's Day. Should be off to be able to pay respect/learn from their elders.
I've never served due to medical reasons, but I work for the Feds and have Thursday off. Ive always taken my Dad (Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iragi Freedom - 30+ years in the Navy and Army) and my Grandpa (World War II and Korea - 20 years in the Navy) out to dinner and spend the day with them. It's my way of saying thanks to them. This year, my Grandpa isn't in good health anymore (96 years old) and Dad is watching over both my grandparents at the Hospice. I'm going to take lunch to them but then I'm going to take one of my neighbors (whos a disabled Vet) to the gun range and out to dinner.
