I'm not sure about the deals at Wally World but if you are in Tulsa anytime soon Sports World has Marlin 795 .22s on sale for around $112.00. They are marked as sample guns but have never been fired and come with a new factory warranty. I believe they were over-stocked items left over from when Remington bought Marlin. I bought one and I am very pleased with it so far.

Yes you do get your discount on firearms, and Alaska is the only state Walmart can sell handguns. If you go to Walmart.com under the sporting goods section you can access the special order catalog. It's a PDF file and all the store selling guns have a hard copy they can scan the barcode and give you a price. If you do want to special order a long gun you must put down 10%. A few changes are happening and Walmart is getting back to it's roots.

Don't get too excited about WalMart gun prices. Claremore store has always had them (believe it or not but had handguns when Supercenter first opened). I have almost always been able to find better prices. Their selection has always been basic models, too. i.e. 700 ADL, 870 Express, Wea. Vanguard, etc. Rarely ever a sale.

druryj: Definitely nothing to get excited about on small .22s unless you want an overpriced Crickett.

Oh yeah, and you get to deal with an assoc. that knows jack about firearms.

Just want to clarify that "can sell" and "chooses to sell" are two different things with two different meanings :) Also for the lazies, here is the catalog PDF direct link: http://i.walmartimages.com/i/if/hmp/fusion/SpecialOrderGunCatalog.pdf

I bought my Marilin .22 at the store in Norman. The price was the same as about anywhere ($150), but went mainly as an experiment to see how it went. Aside from the manager being a complete jack-wagon about having to the time to do the sell, they knew what they were doing and it was not a hassle. Call to NICS and completing forms and such were all routine and went smoothly. I also had the "walk of shame" as they escorted me out and didn't let me carry my firearm until outside of the door; Academy does the same but they somehow seemed much nicer about it (I think they let me carry the box at least!).

Also noteworthy is I bought my .22, an American Flag, and a 12 pack of Budweiser (it was July 4th after all). The manager refused to ring the firearm and the beer in the same transaction. I wanted it all on the same receipt to hang up in my desk at work :disappoin
