I LOVE Gunworld. LOL. NO I’m not trolling either. When I go in I don’t even look at their guns. They might as well be permanently bolted to the walls. When I walk past their ammo it’s all I can do to keep a straight face, seriously. I go there for the gun range. Reasonably priced, air conditioned, great filtering system, electronic retrieval for the targets which will tell you exactly how far your target is away. The best thing, I’m almost always by myself when I’m shooting.
Also I understand Gunworld. From what I’ve been told the owner used to be a Sheriff. I was also told he won a huge lawsuit many years ago and could care less about making money. He would rather make a large profit off 1 gun than a small profit off 100 guns. I know this because years ago I talked to one of his new managers that told me he was going to make big changes at Gunworld. So the manager emailed me back after talking to the owner and said, they had a come to God meeting about the future of Gunworld and the owner told him nothing was going to change. The owner has no desire to be a high volume store. The guy caters to the police, who are there all the time, and that’s it.

I may know that guy (the owner).

I think I worked with him at one time.

Seemed like a decent enough dude.

Yeah when I go in I always try to be respectful, because to me it seems more than just a business, it’s more like his home. I’ve always been treated with an equal amount of respect in return.

If it is the guy I'm thinking about, I think he worked at the jail maybe. Hurt his back or something?

If it was, or is him, he really did seem to be a decent enough dude. I think he worked for Mashburn at one time, and maybe bought the store when Mashburn retired and he got a big settlement. I dunno. Been a long time. I don't even remember his name. I didn't work with him for very long, so I can't say we were friends.

I don't disagree with what you've said, and it's why I don't go in there anymore. I will say this, if it is him, he was never the person I dealt with in his store. I just don't have any reason to be in there. They're too expensive for me to shop with, and I can shoot in my back yard, so ...

Hopefully they're not still listed as an FFL on the Gunbroker list with a 20.00 transfer fee. Several years ago the owner told me high prices was to keep the Riff Raff out. It works pretty good and keeps everyone out.
Target was accused of bias for doing this awhile back...the allegation was that they had higher prices so they could attract a certain demographic and discourage others, possibly due to loss prevention.

I would not pay ridiculous prices for their gun world stuff, but if they had in stock something I wanted I might make them an offer and they could then decide whether or not to take it. If that kept out the tire kickers, but they still chose to take an offer, how could you prove bias? I've seen the same thing done on vehicles...priced high to keep away the non-serious buyers and then a deal made once a serious buyer inquired.

Mustang Pawn and Gun in Mustang on HWY 152????? Been in there a couple of times, some years ago. Did not buy anything. I don't recall being treated rudely.

I walked in GunWorld in Del City One.Time.Only. Said I'd never darken their doorway ever again.

Mashburn Arms, they had a store on N Penn & 12th Street in OKC, just about where Penn curves. I bought a few things there. My memory of the store was dark, gloomy, unattractive inside. I did not know they had another location.
If they were around in the 90’s, I think that’s the one that I was getting confused with Mashburn Arms. I guess because they both start with M. I’m not very bright at times.

WHY oh why is this store so expensive? I drive around for work and I was on the east end of town a while ago. I had a couple minutes between appointments so I figured I'd check out Gunworld.
I got real excited when I walked in because they have a GREAT selection of firearms. All kinds of shotguns, revolvers, semi auto handguns, quality bullpups and conventional rifles. Whoo doggy it felt like 2019. And then I start looking at prices.

$700 for shield plus?!?!

$40 for 50rnds of CCI Blazer 9mm????

$600 for a Taurus 856???

$700 for a bodyguard 38??

$700 for a gen 3 Glock 19??????!!!!!!!!!

40 DOLLARS FOR PMAGS

I can't believe they're still open. Asked a dude to see an LCR after about 15 minutes of standing there the guy said "6 shots of 357 is a lot of firepower" and I said "It's 5 of .38" and he just laughed while giving me a "sure" look. As if I was completely wrong. Till I opened the cylinder and then he didn't seem as friendly.

I asked how much the FFL transfer was and he said, to my face, with a straight face, "$135". I laughed and he did too, but got damn he wasn't lying!!!!

Do they skip the background check for the elevated prices or something? Is it a front for a for a more clandestine operation? Is it an ATF honeypot? Maybe they have a secret gambling room in the basement.

(obviously not)

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they just take advantage of lower income, less informed, first time gun owners. And it's disgusting.
best gun store around is R&M arms in Minco OK 30 miles southwest of okc best prices on guns, and then Big boys in Wheatland is 2nd best from my experience, the big stores are a joke Academy takes a hour to to a hour and a half for a background check it is a joke.

last few I've bought from the south OKC Academy I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. I think it just varies on the load on the system at the time.

Here, but occasionally There.
If I remember right, the "owner" used to run the Mashburn store on south Eastern Avenue, and his first name may be Mike. I don't know the capacity, but I seem to remember him being with the sheriff's office, but perhaps as a deputy instead of sheriff.
