Yeah, I'd like to see that too. I've been out two days in a row. I came closer to killing one with my truck than I have w/my rifle.

Oh well, I'm going back out Sunday after worship. Maybe third time's the charm.

Could be worse - you could have been out every day since the opener (save one) and not seen anything. Until I checked my cams last night, I didn't think there were any more deer in my area - most went nocturnal, but they come out every now and then - just gotta get out there as often as possible to increase your odds of bumping into one.

Just twice? Ha, ha, that's funny. I've hunted probably dozen & and half mornings since early October - nothing. It's getting ridiculous how bad my luck is this year. I've only seen 2 deer while hunting, and both of them were being pushed / jumped while walking in/out - no "walking" deer have come near at all. Seen quite a few of them on scouting days / while driving. Controlling the hell out of my scent and everything - it's weird. It's unbelievable how much sign I find too. Scrapes, rubs, poop, tracks, most of it pretty fresh, within a week or two. Seems they're way more nocturnal this year than in the past, possibly. I've had a couple walk near me after dark and before light. I think my problem is that I'm not staying out til midday - I've only done that once; stayed out til 2:00 pm. I think a lot of them are just bedding the whole morning, then getting up at 10, 11, noon to take a piss or feed. Last weekend saw 8 deer in three groups on scouting day (Friday), but NONE on Sat (all day) or Sun morning - except the ones killed by hunters at the check station. Then two on Sunday noon driving home, 50 yards from the highway. Oh yeah, I saw several dozen turkeys while hunting, and could have shot two of them - dangit, I wish they'd extend fall turkey gun to include the first two days of deer season.

Big old moon hasn't helped. My deer gun season lasted until about 9:00am the first morning. The only hair I saw was on what turned out to be a 9 pointer that looked lots bigger in the scope. Not worth a mount, and pictures are coming later. The newly built 7mm-08 did its job, but I wish I had the bullet back. I am now out of horns for the year. CB

You guys should go toward amarillo on I-40. Just back from there for work. I counted 36 dead deer off the highway. Last year around the same time I counted 42 dead ones. Mostly does, but a few bucks. And around 5-6 with heads chopped off. Its just crazy once you cross the state line, they are everywhere.

I went out on opening day of gun and before 7am I missed a nice buck and dropped a doe. Still after the buck. He comes in every day around 6:30am-7:30am like clock work. Yea, I have no idea how I missed the buck. Buck fever I guess. That was the only time I have been out this gun season. Plan on going out all next weekend though.
